Criminal Justice Committee

  • We created informative videos that have been distributed all throughout Ohio to help raise awareness of legislation introduced in the Ohio General Assembly, that would be detrimental to the community. These videos and online petitions have assisted in educating, engaging and mobilizing the community. Legislation such as HB 99 – arming teachers in our schools without gun training, like that received by peace officers. Also, HB 294 the Voter suppression bill which has been stalled for many months.

Health Committee

  • The health committee hosted a flu shot clinic, several CPR trainings, and a diabetes/blood pressure check event.

Political Action and Criminal Justice Committees

  • We created informative videos that have been distributed all throughout Ohio to help raise awareness of legislation introduced in the Ohio General Assembly that would be detrimental to the community. These videos and online petitions have assisted in educating, engaging and mobilizing the community. Legislation such as HB 99 – arming teachers in our schools without gun training, like that received by peace officers. Also, HB 294 the Voter suppression bill which has been stalled for many months.

  • In 2020, we hosted 15 separate Judicial races.

  • Our non-partisan candidate flyers helped raise voter awareness of who the Candidates were that would be on their ballot. Many of our recorded online candidate forums have had thousands of views.

  • We seamlessly transitioned from in-person events to virtual forums during the global Coronavirus pandemic, keeping voters engaged and informed. One Judge praised our forums for probing the judicial candidates and ended a long-delayed effort of conducting an analysis of other methods to increase diversity in the Jury Pool.

  • In 2021, we successfully hosted candidates for the Mayoral Primary, and nine separate forums in the 2021 November Election for School Board, Municipal Court, 32 Candidates running for City Council, and the Mayoral Race. Many of our online forums have thousands of views and continue to inform and empower all demographics through social media. Not only did we create a platform to interview all candidates but we created additional informative videos from our pre-questionnaire surveys of the candidate to give more insight on their leadership for voters to make an informed decision in the November election.

Religious Affairs Committee

  • We are proud of our success with the development of a contact list of religious organizations and leaders in Greater Cincinnati, completion of welcome and introduction outreach to the interfaith religious community, and dissemination of NAACP program information to the interfaith religious community.

Scholarship Committee

  • We selected 6 students to receive the 2019 Juanita M. Adams, Karla S. Irvine, and Charles Ross, Sr. scholarships. Each student received a $2,000 check, payable to the school where they were enrolled, to assist with the expense of tuition, books, or other fees.

“I was faced with a difficult situation with a school district which involved my minor child. I reached out to the Cincinnati NAACP for help concerning the issue. The Cincinnati NAACP instantly got involved without hesitation to assist with the situation. They provided me with resources that would assist me throughout the process. With their support, I was able to resolve my situation in a manner that I am very pleased with. The Cincinnati NAACP really showed myself and my minor child how much they were concerned, and cared about the situation my child was going through. I wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to the Cincinnati NAACP for taking the time to listen, and support me throughout this difficult and challenging situation.”

Wonita Scott

“My restaurant was displaced from Downtown Cincinnati to make room for the soccer stadium in the West End. I reached out to Joe Mallory, First Vice President of the Cincinnati NAACP for assistance in finding a new location. After speaking with him, I knew that things would be set into motion and that God would see me through. When Joe used his political and negotiation skills to reach a more favorable outcome for me and Just Cooking, I had the resources I needed to re-open my business in a new location in Bond Hill as an owner, rather than leasing space. I am forever grateful to the Mallory family and the Cincinnati NAACP.”

Political Action Committee

  • We seamlessly transitioned from in-person events to virtual forums during the global Coronavirus pandemic, keeping voters engaged and informed. One Judge praised our forums for probing the judicial candidates and ended a long-delayed effort of conducting an analysis of other methods to increase diversity in the Jury Pool.

Political Action, Criminal Justice & Voter Empowerment Committees

  • In our GOTV efforts, we have distributed over 10,000 copies of our GOTV Candidates’ flyers in 2020-2021, which assisted in the effort of informing and empowering our communities, helping voters make history in electing the first woman Sheriff in Hamilton County.

  • We are currently building a relationship with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office with a laser focus on transparency and accountability.

  • We have created a pledge built on community expectations and campaign promises for the new Sheriff, and we hope to continue to grow the relationship between the Sheriff’s office and our communities. This collaborative growth in transparency has already led to the activation of more cameras within the Justice Center that also includes sound which was not activated prior to the inquiry. We are still pushing for body cameras on Correctional Officers in this County and across the state. But we appreciate the genuine efforts of transparency the current Sheriff’s Office is providing.

Voter Empowerment Committee

  • We distributed 2500 voting pieces door to door. 8 political forums, registered 85 people, and completed registration training of 15 people.
